13- Plainness السهول/  الوضوح / البساطه

Now that doesn't mean that plainness is the only good style, or that you should become a ـــــــــــــــــــ to spare, unadorned writing. Formality and ornateness have their place, and in ـــــــــــــــــــــ  hands complexity can carry us on a dizzying, breathtaking journey. But most students, most of the time, should strive to be sensibly simple, to develop a ـــــــــــــــــــــ style of short words, active verbs, and relatively simple sentences ــــــــــــــــــــ clear actions or identities. It's faster, it makes arguments easier to follow, it increases the chances a busy reader will bother to pay attention, and it lets you ــــــــــــــــــــ more attention on your moments of rhetorical flourish, which I do not advise ــــــــــــــــــــ altogether.

* Answers with Grammar Explanation

1- Slave: عبيد / رقيق
- In this context, "slave" is used metaphorically مجازيا to describe someone who is excessively subservient or controlled by something, in this case, plainness or simplicity in writing.
وصف شخص مفرط الخضوع أو يسيطر عليه شيء ما، في هذه الحالة، الوضوح أو البساطة في الكتابة.

- (someone completely controlled by another): This emphasizes the idea of avoiding becoming overly restricted in your writing style. Aiming for a simple style doesn't mean sacrificing all creativity.

2- Competent: كفؤ / مختص / مؤهل
"Competent" means having the necessary ability or skill to do something effectively.
القدرة أو المهارة اللازمة للقيام بشيء ما بفعالية
It implies being proficient or capable in developing a writing style.

- (having the necessary skills): Most students should aim for a competent writing style, focusing on clarity and effectiveness. This avoids overly complex language while still conveying ideas clearly.

3- Baseline: حدود
- "Baseline" here refers to a starting point or fundamental level. It suggests establishing a basic style of writing as a foundation.

- This refers to a fundamental level, which is appropriate for most students who should focus on clear and effective communication.

4- carrying:
The term "carrying" here means that the simple sentences are delivering or conveying clear actions or identities. This is a fundamental aspect of effective writing, ensuring the message is easily understood by readers.

5- Focus: ركز
"Focus" here means to concentrate or direct attention on something, emphasizing the importance of paying attention to key aspects of writing.

- "Focus" refers to concentrated attention or effort. The text advises that keeping the writing simple allows writers to devote more attention to their rhetorical flourishes or creative touches.

- This captures the idea of directing your writing effort. Clear writing allows you to concentrate more on impactful moments of rhetorical flourish.

6- Deserting: هجر / أهمل
"Deserting" means abandoning or leaving behind. In this context, it suggests not completely abandoning moments of rhetorical flourish in writing, despite the emphasis on simplicity.
- This reflects the suggestion to not completely abandon descriptive language, but to use it strategically.

- "Deserting" means abandoning. It's suggested that even while concentrating on simpler writing, students should not entirely abandon their attempts to create moments of rhetorical flourish. These can add interest and variety to their writing.
